Tribal Veterans Affairs Offices

( – promoted by Aji)

Now that Navajo has so skillfully persuaded me to take on the position on NAN Veterans Affairs Correspondent I’ve decided to take the responsibility pretty seriously. Thursday’s Veterans Day diary will provide some indication.

Now I need your help. I have established contact with the tribal Veterans Affairs Offices of the Tohono O’odham and Pasqua Yaqui, the two reservations within proximity of my house. I don’t know where to start with the many other nations throughout the United States.

This is where you come in. If you are an enrolled member of any tribe or nation please contact their government and determine that they have someone responsible for Veterans Affairs. Contact that person and ask them to email me at R_W_Phillips@Cox.net so that I can regularly send them NAN Veterans Affairs diaries directly via email.

This advances not only the cause of Native veterans, but makes NAN known to a wider slice of Native America than it now reaches. The Yaqui and Tohono O’odham folks I’ve spoken with had no idea we exist.

Thanks,

Bob P / DaNang65

  1. Thanks so much for working on this.

My goal is to have members from every tribe participating here.  Your focus is much needed and I think will be welcomed by many tribes.

    High Five!

  2. Thanks for the tips. I just sent the piece to the Veterans Day Pow Wow coordinator in hopes it can be incorporated into their program.
