Paulette Jordan (D. ID)
Received this e-mail today from Democracy for America in support of Idaho State Rep. Paulette Jordan’s (D. ID) gubernatorial campaign:
The toxic effect of corporate money in our politics isn’t just a problem in Washington, D.C. It’s also a problem in all 50 states.
Here in 2018 there are a growing number of progressive champions running for governor to take on corporate power. As we saw in 2010 when Scott Walker and other Tea Party Republicans won, state governors matter a lot in the battle for the future of our country.
That’s why Democracy for America is excited to endorse Paulette Jordan for Governor of Idaho — because she’s building a smart, grassroots campaign focused on confronting the out-of-control, corporate interests running her state. Her campaign can serve as a powerful model for leaders across America.
If elected, Paulette Jordan will also be the United States’ first Native American governor. She’s a former member of the Coeur d’Alene tribal council and currently the only Democrat in the legislature from conservative northern Idaho. She knows how to win in places other Democrats don’t think they can.
As Governor, Paulette Jordan won’t just be an unrelenting champion for progressive values in Idaho, she’ll be a historic trailblazer who will help bring the voices of all people to the halls of power in Boise and across the country.
As a Democrat elected in conservative North Idaho, Paulette knows first-hand that Democrats win in red terrain not by running from our progressive values, but by running on them and developing the inclusive populist coalition needed to realize their promise.
Paulette Jordan knows that health care is a human right — and how important it is to deliver it in a rural state like Idaho. She will protect public lands from greedy corporate interests, and promote renewable energy — helping fight back against Trump in a state where Republicans take their voters for granted.
In numerous special elections over the last year it’s become clear Democrats can win anywhere, especially when they run on a progressive agenda that brings together regular Democratic voters and voters from the New American Majority. Paulette Jordan represents that New American Majority — young, a woman of color, and deeply progressive. She can win in Idaho. Will you help?
Thank you for supporting this inspiring progressive leader.
